SafeCare®
SafeCare® is a parent-training program. It is delivered in the home and focuses on child and home safety.
SafeCare is for:
- Families that have at least one child age birth to 5
- Families needing help with creating a safe home environment for their young children and parents wanting to improve structure and routines for the children in their home
What is SafeCare?
In each home visit your Home Visitor will:
- Describe new parenting skills
- Explain why those skills are important
- Show you how each skill works
- Provide positive and helpful feedback
- Ask you to practice
- Help you set new goals for the week
Common things a SafeCare Home Visitor can help you with:
Health Module –Develop skills for a healthy home by training you on how to use health reference materials and how to prevent and identify symptoms of common child illnesses and injuries. You will also gain the skills to know when to treat your child at home, call the doctor, or visit the emergency room when illness or injuries occur.
Home Safety Module – Learn to childproof your home in order to keep you and your family safe. Parent-Child/Parent-Infant Interactions Module – Learn fun and engaging play activities for you and your child.
You will learn skills to increase positive interactions and prevent challenging child behavior.
