Family Preservation Services (FPS)
The goal of Family Preservation Services is to keep you and your children together as a family. Your therapist is dedicated to your success. They will listen to you and help you to decide what steps should be taken to keep your family safe.
By participating in FPS services, your family can
- Learn new skills - including parenting, child behavior management, communication, problem solving, household safety, and how to control your moods and feelings.
- Discover how to reduce fighting and learn how to get along better.
- Get help meeting your basic family needs including food, clothing, or household items.
- Get connected to ongoing resources in your community.
Services begin when your DCYF caseworker submits a request for you to receive FPS. Your therapist will meet with your family to build a plan to address the concerns of your caseworker. Your therapist will work with you and your family in the privacy of your own home or in your community at times that are convenient for you. Your therapist will tell your caseworker about the gains you have made.
Family Preservation Services are perfect for all types of families, including
